Who is David Bennington?
David Bennington is the founder of Recovery Well, based in Red Deer, Alberta. He is thirteen years sober and has spent nearly two decades connected to the Global recovery community and actively serving Central Alberta’s recovery community — he arrived as someone rebuilding his own life and now serves as a mentor and connector for others doing the same.
Why did he start Recovery Well?
Because he kept meeting the same two kinds of people. On one side: people who were struggling but not “bad enough” for a funded program, with nowhere structured to turn. On the other: people with real lived experience and the tools to help, who had no accessible way to be found or to earn a living doing it. Recovery Well exists to connect them.
What is his background?
David’s path to Recovery Well wasn’t a straight line — and that’s exactly the point. He spent nearly fifteen years doing field-level quality control and inspection across telecommunications, utilities, pipelines, oil and gas facilities, and power plants — work that demands precision, sound judgment under pressure, and zero room for cutting corners. Earlier, he built a foundation in cost accounting, accounts payable, and sales management, giving him a real, ground-level understanding of how businesses and financing actually work.
He’s currently completing formal training through the Recovery Coach Academy of Canada, adding structure and certification to what nearly two decades in Central Alberta’s recovery community have already taught him.
What guides his work?
Progress at the Pace of People — No One Left Behind. David doesn’t believe in shortcuts, high-pressure tactics, or treating recovery as a race.
